Bachelor of Business Administration
CurriculumAccreditationPerformance
This program emphasizes practical application as well as the theoretical aspects of the discipline of accounting to prepare students for professional careers in public, managerial, and governmental accounting and/or advanced study within the discipline. Students will gain an understanding of the social, ethical, economic, legal, and regulatory environment in which businesses operate and develop the problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and leadership skills necessary to compete in a dynamic global marketplace. While successful completion of the BBA Accounting degree program satisfies the requirements to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination, additional credit as well as documented experience may be needed to obtain licensure. As of December 2019, students pursuing a CPA license in the state of Michigan are required to have obtained 150 semester hours of credit to sit for CPA Examination. Individuals who wish to obtain a license to practice in Michigan, are therefore advised to contact the Michigan State Board of Accountancy Licensing Bureau for further information. Individuals wishing to become eligible to sit for the examination in another state or territory should check the requirements of the particular state or territory with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (nasba.org) which services as a forum for the Boards of Accountancy of the 55 states and territories of the United States, and is the final authority on educational requirements. Those who wish to obtain licensure in another state or territory should check with that state or territory's Board of Accountancy to determine the specific educational and experiential requirements.
